Yoga Studio Etiquette

Preparing For Your Class

Hydrate! Drink plenty of water throughout the day to ensure you are well hydrated. We also recommend to avoid eating minimum 1 – 2 hours before your yoga class.

To ensure everyone’s comfort and well-being, we kindly request that you prioritize personal hygiene by showering before class and wearing clean clothes to practice in. You may also wish to be mindful about the food and drinks you consume before your practice.

Avoid wearing perfumes or heavy scents on the days you attend class. Other students may have allergies to perfumes or essential oils.

Leave your valuables at home or in your car. Although we make every effort to ensure our space is safe, we take no responsibility for the loss of your property as our studio is an open shared space. You may place your belongings in the designated space located in our reception area.

Tell the teacher about injuries before class. If you have particular needs or concerns, please tell our teach know before class.

Arriving At The Studio

Please arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to class. Our doors are locked at the start of class. Practice mindfulness and plan ahead.

Remove your shoes and place them on the shoe rack in our reception area when you arrive at the studio.  This ensures our floors stay clean. Out of respect for other clients, ensure your feet are clean.

Turn your cellphone and smartwatch off (even vibrate it can be disturbing) and place it in your bag or purse, which can be left in the coat area. No phones are permitted in the studio space.

Sign in for each class you attend at the front desk!

Move silently in the studio space and avoid talking once on your mat to give yourself time to settle before your practice.

Gently unroll your mat onto the floor instead of harshly whipping it open causing loud and excessive noise.

Please do not step on other students/teachers mats as you navigate to your spot in the studio space as that is their own personal and sacred space.

When entering the studio, bring only your yoga mat and water bottle. Align the top of your mat with the floor markers. If you forget your mat, you may use our mat rental service or purchase one from our studio shop.

New students may wish to position themselves in the second row as this allows you to watch the yogis in the front row and learn from them.

It’s best to stay in the studio space for the entire yoga class, as leaving can disrupt flow and concentration. Use the restroom before class to bypass bathroom breaks. If you know you have to head out early, give the instructor notice before class begins. If you need to leave early, grab a spot close to the door and leave before savasana to cause as little disturbance as possible.

We highly recommend cleaning your yoga mat after class (especially after a hot yoga class) with our homemade disinfectant mat spray! Feel free to use our microfibre towels to wipe down your mat. We also ask that you clean any excess sweat that may have dripped onto the floor during your practice.

We encourage the use of our studio props for all students and classes. Please return all props neatly in their appropriate places. This shows respect for the tools of practice and all that share them with us.

Join us in welcoming new students into our community! Sometimes we see a new student feeling lost and unsure - please feel free to welcome and guide them. Let them know what props the teacher usually uses, slide your mat aside to make space, or just smile warmly. A little bit can go a long way in making them feel welcome.
